June 7th till August 27th 2011 Ni Houdoe

Brabant’s contribution to the World Expo.

Apparently, there was a stampede of visitors during the World Expo in Shanghai. Almost everyone was there. But for those few (including myself) who were unable to fly back and forth for the occasion, the contribution from the Netherlands – or rather Brabant – can now be admired after the fact in our exhibition area. And since John Kormeling was the designer and curator of the pavilion, a task he also assumed for us, yet another World Expo is on display, only this time in Eindhoven. It turns out that Chinese sounds a bit like the Brabant dialect: when John left Shanghai, they all said "Ni houdoe" (‘houdoe’ being dialect for ‘bye’), but that doesn’t mean they don’t plan to join us…
