Presentations:
Atelier van Lieshout (galery/kunstexpostieruimtes)
Starting on 4 September, our factory will serve as the ’home’ for Joep van Lieshout/Atelier Van Lieshout. Joep van Lieshout, a Rotterdam artist with an international reputation, will kick off the new art season right here at our complex, with a spectacular exhibition, both indoors and outdoors. In the two exposition areas measuring 500 m2, Atelier Van Lieshout will create a hair-raising setting, in which the studio’s most recent sculptures and illustrations play the starring role. The exposition will take visitors past sinister installations and scenes in which the lines between good and evil, life and death, reality and fiction no longer exist.
On the 22nd of October: Artist Talk with Joep van Lieshout. This will take place on the platform at 20:00h and the entrance is free. You can subscribe by the counter of the PHE shop or by phone T: 040-2856610
As guest curator of FILM + DESIGN 2011 he has selected three incredible modern classics: Alejandro Jodorowsky's 'The Holy Mountain', Werner Herzog's 'The Great Ecstacy of Wood- carver Steiner', and Jennifer Baichwal & Edward Burtynsky's 'Manufactured Landscapes'. Check the film program for specific screening times.

Donald Judd (workshop/werkplaats)
We will be presenting an exhibition of the work of Donald Judd, with a special focus on his furniture designs. On an international level, Donald Judd is one of the most important post-war artists, and one of the founders of the Minimalism movement. We are very proud to announce that we have entered into agreements with the Donald Judd Foundation, with offices in Marfa (Texas) and New York, to represent his work in the Netherlands.
Jan van der Ploeg has designed an architectural concept. This concept consists of cubes that will be the support and background of Judd’s furniture and can be used in a different shape at a later stage.
Film + Design Festival (the platform/het perron)
During DDW 2011, the FILM + DESIGN Festival will be presented for the second year. The FILM + DESIGN Festival will in 2011 once again show design films about the work, drive and life of the contemporary designer of 2011. In short: all you need to see about film + design. New collection Piet Hein Eek (showroom)
Piet Hein Eek is presenting his latest objects that have been exhibited in Milan and at the Art Basel Miami, as well as the silver-plated vases and the wooden tile cabinet which could not be completed in time for these exhibitions. You can also see a brand spanking new chair based on a design he made years ago for the ticket booth at the Kröller Müller museum, serving trays, new tea towels and a version of the steel sheet sideboard (plaatkast) with drawers.
Wehkamp.nl (showroom)
Philips Design | Microbial Home (showroom)
The latest Philips Design Probe Project, Microbial Home, is an innovative domestic ecosystem that challenges conventional design solutions to energy, cleaning, food preservation, lighting, human waste and healthy lifestyle

Sprookjes nv (showroom)
Sprookjes nv is showing its unique collection of drawings by Charles Burki and matching DAF models.
Floris Hovers (eventspace/evenementenruimte)
Designer Floris Hovers finds a basic, simple approach to techniques and materials very important to communicate his vision and his way of working.
During this exhibition, he presents a variety of work. In a spatially suggested production process, he shows his quest for what was and is, for the balance between work and play, man and machine, colour and proportion.

Jack Brandsma (eventspace/evenementenruimte)
Installation, Product design
Jack Brandsma studied Interior Design at the Minerva Academy of Visual Arts and Design in Groningen and Product Design at the Royal College of Art in London. For a while, he was a co-worker at Eek and Ruijgrok BV and a partner in the early years of the company but he soon steered his own course. Now he presents an installation of his products at Eek & Ruijgrok.

Joep Jacobs & Ruben Sannen (eventspace/evenementenruimte)
For a beginning design duo, exhibiting works is like lying on a therapist’s couch. Designs are thrown to the lions and creators talk themselves out of projects.

Stephan Sieperman (eventspace/evenementenruimte)
(Design Academy, 2005) lives and works in Utrecht. In his studio with workshop he designs and produces furniture and other interior products. The exhibition gives an interesting and inspiring insight into the approach of the designer: intelligent functionality combined with craftsmanship and aesthetics.

Tom Frencken (eventspace/evenementenruimte)
Simple lines and materials are the basis for the designs of Tom Frencken. The colors and materials he uses are modest, though the details and finishing are extraordinary. His fascination for nature en craftsmanship are clearly visible in his furniture, accessories, drawings and jewelry.

Wieland Vogel (eventspace/evenementenruimte)
Wieland Vogel presents two entirely different new works, nevertheless the designs are related in eye for construction, detail and refinement. Wieland studied at the Design Academy Eindhoven and creates both autonomous as production-oriented work.

Lotty Lindeman & Wouter Scheublin (atelier 1)
Since the start of their shared studios, Wouter Scheublin and Lotty Lindeman have both been working on their individual projects. Lindeman creates products which subtly tell stories in space. Construction and mechanics are key elements in the work of Scheublin. Both share a passion for detail and refinement in construction. Since 2011 they have been working together on joint projects. The first results of their collaboration will be on show during DDW 2011.

Dirk Vander Kooij (atelier 2)
During the presentation of Endless at DDW 2010, Dirk van der Kooij made a big impression. This year he presents a much wider collection with new designs and a means to document them digitally. Endless is the result of one seamless motion of a robotic arm, which extrudes a line of plastic, all based on a digital design. With this process, developed for the mass industry, Dirk van der Kooij brings back true craftsmanship.

Door 22 (atelier 3)
AtelierKunstAlders
Sander Kunst
Guus Alders
Steven Banken

Jean-paul Marsman (atelier 4)
