Donald Judd & Jan van der Ploeg
For the presentation of five Donald Judd furniture pieces, Jan van der Ploeg developed architectural concept no. 325, 2011, consisting of cubes that serve as the background and support for the furniture and that can be used in the future in a different form for another exhibition. The piece on display measures 7.5 x 5.25 x 2.25 metres.
Out of his respect for the artist, who passed away in 1994, Jan van der Ploeg took his point of departure from Donald Judd's colour palette for this installation. What makes this installation unique is that, in spite of the fact that it undeniably uses Judd’s colour palette, visitors can also immediately recognise it as a work by Jan van der Ploeg. This architectural concept clearly shows how Donald Judd continues to inspire future generations of artists.
