At the time this sofa was designed, the contemporary soft furnishings market was (and still is) swamped with bulky sofas with thin legs and sleek upholstery. This modular sofa has oversized, exaggerated features, such as chunky wooden legs, loose covers on soft foam instead of tight synthetics over hard foam and exposed instead of concealed stitching details.
